Rajasthan; the Royal Land of Golden Sand

Rajasthan is the mystic and regal land of golden sand, Kings and Rajputs, rhyming folk songs and dances, multi-colored clothing, lip-smacking cuisines and unparalleled handicrafts. The state has always something unique to offer to its visitors.

Famous Lands:

Jaipur

Jaipur, famously known as “Pink City” is the capital of Rajasthan.  Must-visit places are, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Jal Mahal, Birla Temple, Sisodia Rani Garden, forts including Jaigarh, Nahagarh and Amber forts. While the splendid style of Hawa Mahal will intrigue you, the whopping canon at Jaigarh Fort will fascinate you. Located amidst the water the Jal Mahal has its own enthralling history.

Jodhpur

Jodhpur was founded as the capital of Marwar state by Rao Jodha-chief in the year 1459. Located at the edge of the Thar Desert, it reverberates with stories of antiquity in the hollowness of the desert. The main attraction is gigantic Mehrangarh Fort, sited on the hilltop. Heading towards to Clock Tower you will spot the 30 years old Omelet Shops near the inner arch, serving over 20-30 varieties. However, beware of the duplicators.

Udaipur

In the year 1568 Maharana Udai Singh, founded the lake city of Udaipur. It is often referred to as the 'Venice of the East'. Interspersed with extravagant forts and palaces, splendid temples, hilltop fortresses, and romantic gardens this 'City of Dreams' is a favourite with both Indian and foreign tourists. A fantasy island palace shimmering on mirror-calm Lake Pichola, the lake Palace is one of the most romantic hotels in the world.

Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer known as “The Yellow or Golden City” “is located in the heart of the desert. Towering majestically above the city, Jaisalmer Fort made in sand stone is also known as the living museum as it contains numerous havelis which belonged to merchants in the 19th century.

Pushkar
Pushkar, the only shrine of Lord Brahma, is sited close to Ajmer. Pushkar’s placid lake is considered a very sacred spot for Hindus. Camel Fair which takes place for 10 days every November, is another attraction.

Mount Abu

Mount Abu is oasis in the heart of harsh Thar Desert which covers an area of 1219 meters. Located at the southern angle of the Aravali range, the hill ecstasy owes a pleasant climate.

Travelling is a fun activity for all. Most people round the globe like to spend their holidays at some foreign destination. Hush…The Seven Sisters Are Calling!

The north-eastern region of India is the deific abode of the stunning seven sisters i.e. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. As it is amongst the most secluded corners of the country, the beauty still remains unspoiled and charismatic sans the touch of modernization. The only willowy corridor, to enter this territory is Siliguri (approximately around 30Kms wide).

In the Roads of Old Delhi!!

While the futuristic avatar of India’s capital lies in those lofty buildings, swift metro rails, skyscraping super malls etcetera; the soul somehow still resides in the roads of old Delhi. If you want to experience the spirit then embark on a journey to explore the narrow lanes, twisted galleys and see what they have in store for you!

If you are a foodie; then dotted with numerous cuisines and assortment of street food joints to a variety of high-end restaurants, Old Delhi is your paradise. A must visit is into the lanes of Paranthe wali gali, where lip smacking paranthas (fried bread) made in pure ghee in plentiful varieties like stuffed with potato, cashew, almonds, peas, or even rabri, await you. The list of accompanies is also endless, from sweet tamarind chutney, mixed vegetable pickle, to paneer (cottage cheese) and potato curry; you name it you get it.

However, don’t look for non-vegetarian options here. Want to have little tangy, little spicy delights; then let your taste buds relish Delhi’s special chaat at Daulat ki Chaat at Chandni Chowk.  This joint’s specialties are unbeatable. The next trial can be with some curd and dumplings at Natraj’s Dahi Bhalle. The Aloo Tikki of this joint is equally tempting.

How about having some sweet indulgence now?  Head to Chandni Chowk, where The Old and Famous Jalebiwala and Ghantewala Halwai are at your service. While the former is known for its piping hot and juicy jalebis tasted even better when taken with samosas; the Ghantewala Halwai is frequented for its Sohanhalwa. If you feel you are done for the day with your eating drive; a glass of lassi or buttermilk in flavors of kesar (saffron), Mango, Malai (cream), Banana, Jeera (cumin) or Strawberry lassi from Amritsari Lassi Wala, can still fit into your stomach.

If these traditional foods are not your take; then fret not as the purani dilli has its fast food galore too. What you need to do is to visit the Kamla Nagar Market and chose from the range of fast food joints there. The market is also famous for its momos. Must try are the Momo Point and Momo King located next to the Barista.

Done with your gastronomic tour? Then let us try the most favourite activity of any woman; you guessed it right! It is shopping. From Chandni Chowk, to Kamla Nagar to Cannaught Place; shoppers can spend days after days here as the range of products is beyond one’s imagination.

Right from the Mughal era the Chandni Chowk market was famed for its fountains and shops. This bazaar is a set-up of lanes and by lanes and each having its own signature or specialty. When Chawri Bazaar is known for stationery items; the Sadar Bazaar and the Khari Baoli are the whole sale giants in entire northern India. For an aromatic purchase; must buy is Ithar at Dariba Kalan. Even the trinkets are also quite interesting here. Gadget lovers, Lajpat Rai market can blow your mind off with its wide collection of latest gadgets.

Since 1950’s Kamala Nagar market is not just only meeting the needs of the students but also offering shopping options to others as well.  From fashionable yet reasonably priced apparel and shoes to branded ones; anything and everything is available here. The best deals can be the trendy kurtis, shirts, coats, jackets, skirts, jeans, suits, salwar-kameez and many such types of apparel. Two things to remember, one it remains closed on Mondays and one has to keep a guard against pickpockets, touts and duplicate products.
          
Connaught Place or popularly called as CP, is the spot for you if you are the type who swear by brands. CP is an interesting place and very well connected both by metro and bus route. Head for some bargain shopping at Janpath, if you are good at haggling then this place will be rewarding for you.

Destination, the City of Destiny – Vizag!

Visakhapatnam pen named as Vizag, is the port city of Andhra Pradesh, India.  Due to its picturesque scenic beauty, this city is called "The Jewel of the East Coast". From azure lagoons to white sand beaches, beautiful hills, caves to variegated valleys; Visakhapatnam has stored something for everyone.

“When in Vizag, do as the Vizagites do!” Wondering what are they? Here is a list of things to-do.
For a soul soothing stroll around the Bay of Bengal Head towards the heart of the city Beach Road or R.K. Beach.  Enjoy chit-chatting sipping into a cup of tea or munching jhalmuri or walk hand-in-hand on the beach with your loved ones.  Besides visiting Visakha Museum don’t miss the Kursura Submarine Museum.  It was the first Museum in Asia to be built off a Submarine.

If you still miss out the morning charm of the city, do not fret. Visit Rishikonda beach; a perfect blend of mountains and sea. Take out your shoes; and let your bare foot do the talking with nature as they feel the wet warm sand underneath.  This place can be enjoyed by everyone, if not the aqua fun; then the sumptuous food spread offered by various eateries around can delight your senses.  A must try is Raju Gari dhaba serving authentic seafood. Adventure freaks can try surfing and speedboat option too.

Located on the hill top built by Buddhist monks over 2000 years ago, Totla Konda or ‘Hill with stone wells,’ is something which would interest you if you want to peep through the Buddhist history. Of late, the archeologists discovered certain structural units like Maha Stupa Viharas, 16 Votive Stupas, Chaitya Gruhas, stone pillared congregation halls, 11 rock-cut cisterns, well paved stone pathways, a kitchen complex with three halls and a refectory. Around 15 kilometers from heart of the city, this is as well another perfect spot uphill hiking.

Situated near about 35 kilometres away from the main city, a rocky headland rising above the sea level; Dolphin Nose would be the beginning of your trip from the another side of the city. The name of the place is derived from the shape of the rock, which resembles a snout of the dolphin.  It is a natural harbor. The drive up the hill to reach dolphin's nose is awe-inspiring. One can see the almost the city from this height .Back of dolphin nose is Yarada Beach, another treat for eyes.
